Eve Online Interview at Worthplaying

Worthplaying has published an interview with Mike Wallis, Senior Producer for Eve Online. Here's something about player economy:

10. Can you give us some info on the player economy? Has any part of the idea behind it changed since the beta to better facilitate the players and gameplay?

The entire economy is player-based. Which means that everything in the game can be manufactured by players. Items such as ships, weapons, and shields, down to the missiles you fire are all created by players. To get things started, NPC corporations will seed the market with basic supply (of modules such as weapons and ships), and also generate a basic demand for minerals. As players gain money and obtain blueprints to manufacture items on their own, they can then use factories to start churning out items, undercutting the prices the NPC sell them for. Over time, the economy will shift from NPC based to fully player based.
