Gothic on a Savage4 with win2k/xp

Has anyone gotten this combination to work successfully? When I run Gothic I get horrible graphics errors, everything flashes from dark to light and some objects which are made from partly transparant textures will sometimes show a solid color where its supposed to be transparant. Both effects flash on and off as the view changes.

Goto Viaarena.com and update your S3 drivers.

There are no Savage4 drivers there, against better judgement I tried a ProSavage driver ... but as expected that failed to work (defaulted to the standard VGA driver instead when it tried to boot).
