Neverwinter Nights VS Dungeon Siege

It seems that Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege is pretty similliar. Well, it is, in the graphics. Anyway, whice game do you think is best, not that anyone have played NWN yet, but whice one will you like most?

I was pretty dissepointed at DS so im hoping for Neverwinter...

If you look here you will find question "if Morrowind or Dungeon Siege is better". And it is locked because I think that it is not possible to compare such different game when one is released and one not. I do not think that such discussion can bring something useful or interesting.
Well, mayb NWN is more similar to DS than Morrowind to DS and it is only reason why I will not lock this one. But I still say: "wait until both games will be out and we will see".

Well... as Dungeon Siege is a single player dungeon crawl where you get lots of goodies... and Neverwinter Night's single player is an afterthought (it's geared for live DMs and modded modules)...

I'm betting that they will be similar though, if only because of player mentalities. I'm sure there will be lots of DMs dropping holy avengers off Kobolds...

I would... but they'd be a pack of level 12 Fiendish Kobold Shadowdancers in the center of a trap filled maze.

NWN doesn't exist and may never exist, there is no valid viewpoint here.

I like the original Neverwinter Nights.... awwww yeah, here's comes Groo the fighter! "A fray! A fray!"

And you can have an opinion. I've read extensively on each game, read development notes and forums and everything I can... and I think I'd prefer Neverwinter Nights. I like 3rd ed and I like multiplayer. I like the idea of a 'live' DM managing the monsters.

I don't like straight hack and slash linear adventures as much (though Dungeon Siege looks really, really pretty). Diablo was fine to run through once. Diablo II was fine to run through once. D2 multiplayer was fun for a while. Dungeon Siege looks too much like the next level of Diablo (ie: A good version).

But they are entirely different styles of games. Comparing them is like comparing Dues Ex to Baldur's Gate 2. Both RPGs (nominally in one case), nothing in common save they're both good.

Really? Blade of Darkness 2 was two short weeks away from release when Rebel Act folded and the game never saw light.

I think NWN will be released, but I have a standing personal rule: If it hasn't been released it's vaporware. I believe it when I see it.

I still reject the idea that you can decide on which game you like best when you have never even seen one of them. You're deciding completely based on hype and hype doesn't always mean truth. Too say you like NWN better than something else when it doesn't even exist yet is like saying you prefer a car that is in the concept stage of development over one that is already available, you really can't know yet.

I can accept that from what you've seen of NWN so far you believe that you'll prefer it. I'm just saying that you can't know until you actually play the game. This thread is about which game you prefer and no one can answer that until they can play both. Peace.

On a personal note, I really hope NWN has cool single player. It feels like I've waited forever for this game and If it's only value is in mp then it won't be for me. I'd really hate to be disappointed this late in the game.

Bioware's NWN forum still lists the release date as "Summer 2002". I always hate vague release dates. They don't fill me with a staggering amount of confidence, see "Standing personal rule".

It's forgotten. I'm sorry Rawis I shouldn't have gotten involved in this one. I already know better than to post into my pet peave threads.
