Why?

Why does everyone seem to think that the hero from gothic was stuck in the temple after he banished the sleeper? He says something about returning to the surface, and his adventure only beginning.

Just wondering, did I miss something?

Have you been to the official Gothic 2 website recently?

Hmmm

I've read the Gothic II story synopsis before, and just went to re-read it now. I still don't see anything about him being trapped, where exactly is it?

Also, even if the gothic II website does say that he was stuck, the ending dialog of the game clearly states otherwise I think.

Read a bit through the designers' notes on PB's website. They hinted at stuff like this.

So the designer notes come before the ending of the game?

Sorry if I was cryptical - I was talking of the Gothic II designer's notes.

And anyway, the hero never says how long it took to emerge in daylight, only that it eventually happened.

That's a valid point, but why the assumption that he's down there for so long?

watch the trailer to Gothic II it will answer some of your questions mayb and probably the hero got knocked down or someone casted some magic spell on him so he was there a long time

On one of the first few days of that GII site's existence, they said basically that.

Having now watched the trailer and read the designers notes, I still see no evidence that the hero was down there for an extended period of time. I'm not trying to be difficult I'm just confused.

Ok, but why?

I just don't see why everyone thinks that at all.

The only supporting evidence I've found so far is that some rocks fall on him. But to me that doesn't imply that he's stuck down there for a long time.

I'll try to put it simply, W are told that wjile banishing the sleeper there's an earthquake, we see rocks fallingon the hero, this implies he was down there for a long time, and in this story we're told that everyone else has escaped and blah blah blah, this iimplies that the hero was not present while the current situation developes, so we must assume he was either stuck underground i the orc temple, or that he simply disappeared from existence for while, take your pick.

So essentially everybody has made a lot of assumptions?

There's nothing other than conjecture at work here?

To me, having rocks fall on him doesn't mean anything more than he had rocks fall on him.

Oh well, I guess there's no mystery here, thanks for the replies.
