wow..This was even better than I could imagine.

I will definitely buy this game when it ships!!

I usually like this sort of game. Something about it just didn't click for me in the demo. Combat seemed a bit weird. I could hit things that weren't in range of my sword ( at least the graphic representation made it look that way ).

It sort of felt like Divine Divinity all over again ...but more emphasis on combat, than RPG. That's not a bad thing ....I liked DD. Maybe I find the isometriv view stale ... not sure.

One final quibble .... the character movement seemed a little fast. Made it a bit fiddly for exploring.

I'll still probably end up buying it

Except for two fights so far (some undead and a wizard type holding the seraphim prisoner (NE corner)), the combat is spectullary unchallenging!

I am playing the gladiator and, no thanks to my playing style, nothing is very challenging. Why? Lets see, I have hundreds of hit points, my enemies do not. They do 1 to 10 damage per hit, I do 60+. They sometimes miss I rarely do, and they do NOT come in hordes of 30.

The graphics are nice however, and interface is fairly clean.

definitely in the demo you are superhuman.
I played the seraphim and the monsters needed to come at me in a group of about 5 just so one of them in its dying breath could get a hit off that would bounce off my armor or do 2 hp damage.
My special move was so potent it killed them from many pixels away from the point where my sword ended in full 360 degrees.

Im paractically sure the real game will be more balanced. I see screen shots of huge dragons and what not.

Yes.. this game looks Diablo-like, horse is definitely nice addition, I still have couple of question:

1. In the log book it says I discovered 35.96% of the world. Is this 36% of demo or whole game, I mean it is such small piece of the whole game so how come it says 36%. I reached level 7, uncovered every possible gray area and killed all bad guys living and undead (I think), and if one more kid will call me stupid I will hack the code so I could kill them as well.

2. Regarding combat, for some reason I have to hold the left mouse button to keep hitting I thought you just click once on your enemy and your character will swing until one of us dies.

I don't have any proof to back it up so I could be wrong, but the % shown must be for the demo. Maybe it's just for that map? With all of the places shown in the screenshots (deserts, lava, etc...), the whole world can't possibly be that small...

Donīt worry. Iīm not aware of any Ascaron full price game with less than 100 hours of playing time. Most have a lot more substance.
One of the devs said you can finish the main quest in 30 hours. Exploration comes on top of this. Now multiply it with 6 chars, add MP and you have an insane playing time.

Regarding MP:
You should be more realistic than the German community. Blizzard needed months to make the battle net solid and fun. Donīt expect Ascaron to deliver their ANet out of the box. The next patch this week will improve the situation, but theyīll still need a few weeks after the international release.

How do you find this game, now that it's out in Germany ?

Better than the demo ? Is the single-player campaign fun ?

I've put it on pre-order. I loved Diablo 1+2 to death. Dungeon Seige never did much for me. This game looks , and feels like a combo of Divine Divinity/Diablo.

I also found the demo quite easy, but we are also playing in beginning of the "Normal" level. Diablo 2 also had a very easy start at normal level, so even the easy gamers had a chance to get the feeling of the game. I'm quite certain that there will be a lot of tough enemies out there in the full version.
The game also indicates a "nighmare" and "hell" level.

Sacred is for me a Diablo2 game with much better graphics, tons of quests (not necessary deeper but many more), and last but not least, a really huge non-leveled/separated gameworld, and a few other interesting minor tweaks.
And maybe the full game will surprise me story-wise, it's always hard to get an impression of the story from a demo.

And yes you have to click and hold on an enemy to keep attacking, just like diablo2, no difference here either, and the different possible attacks on both mouse buttons.

Not impressed.

I liked the graphics and the sound was ok. But the gameplay was boring. And, after playing Gothic 2, I can't stand it when I have to read the text myself. I want an actor to read it for me. It's so much more entertaining that way.

The scrolling is a little jagged. The graphics look great if you are just sitting there, but when you are walking...the way they move with you ...doesn't look all that hot.

Diablo 2 fans will most likely like this game. I, however, didn't like Diablo 2, and was hoping this game to be more different. But it's really not. Just a fancier Diablo 2 is all it looks to be to me.

Hmm It's true that if you don't like Diablo 2, you probably also wont like Sacred.

But if the reverse conclussion also is true that if you like Diablo 2 then you also will like Sacred, then I think the team behind "Sacred" would be satisfied with the games potential buyers?!

I wonīt buy it now. Maybe when it goes budget. I donīt have time for gaming this month, and ISO hack & slay isnīt exactly my cup of tea. I loved D1, hated D2 (I guess I was just 6 months too late. Man, did this game look outdated. ) and found DS utterly boring.
Nevertheless Iīm watching Sacred closely because I like Ascaronīs style. Of course their community involvement will dry up when work on the inevitable add-on starts and marketing moves on to Port Royale 2 (release: April 30th), but itīs good to see devs who communicate with customers, create the impression they are working on improving the situation and are willing to listen to community input & at least consider the possibility of an implementation.

On a sidenote, I read a short article and an even shorter interview with the Ascaron boss on the Handelsblatt homepage. This is something like the wallstreet journal (?), I think.
Mr.Flöttmann said that Sacred has more than 400.000(!) international preorders. I assume this only means sell-in, but itīs still amazing, especially because the German sales are not included.
So itīs pretty sure Sacred will earn a lot of money and the team will get the necessary funding to make an adequate sequel. Ascaronsī sequels typically stand for technical stagnation combined with clear focus on a lot of optimized content.

That's a good number of pre-orders. Maybe we are building this game up too much ?

From the demo, I'm not convinced it's going to be the next Diablo, but since the game is so cheap on pre-order I'm not worried.

There's just something about movement and the control system that I find irksome. Although graphically it is better than D2, that in my book isn't a hard thing to achieve since I thought D2's graphics were a let down. The resolution was too limited. If a patch became available that could boost D2 to say 1280x 1024 I'd start playing again.

Well, I'll wait and see. Just 6 days till releaase here. I'm only looking for single-player games to fill in till summer anyway.

A game like Sacred is especially good when you have no time for gaming, as it probably don't have a strong story/plot you have to remember from time to time, and can be played in small pieces 15-30 minutes each time with equally fun. You always have 15-30 minutes now and then Problem can be that it hook you longer than you have time though.
