Sidestep/Controls

Well I finally got a chance to try out the game, and like I read the controls... I find very frustrating... Is there any way to make strafeing actually LIKE strafeing... at least in other games?? Or is it meant to be strafe is just like a "jump" to the side... if so what control scheme do you guys use, I read some people use WASD (which is what I want to use... but if strafe isn't really strafe...) but I'm not sure. Seems interesting... just the controls annoy me alot.

Here´s a thread with an excerpt from JemyM´s FAQ. This should clarify the controls.

Most righthanded people use the alternative controls, which is ASDW + mouse. The thing refered to as 'Action-Key' is (Ctrl or LMB).

Strafeing doesn´t really work. Circle-strafeing while you´re focussing an NPC is okay.

The way I configured it is pretty easy, and easy to remember.
W=forward
S=Backward
A=Turn Left (tho i use the mouse for looking around/turning 99% of time)
D=Turn Rght (tho i use the mouse for looking around/turning 99% of time)
Q=Strafe left
E- Strafe right
Having Q and E set right next to the forward button, I find, makes response time for me uber-fast in avoiding lunges/projectiles. For like Razors, to be able to strafe right at just the moment he's about to make contact, then turn slightly left and sink thy weapon into the foul beasts mangy hide, is pretty effective.

The only time I use the "turn" keys is when i want a really fast turn around, it helps to speed up my mouse-turn, when like being chased or moving in after a defensive strafe. I pretty much use the left mouse key for action/attack, right key for jumping, and mouse-look around the environment. To interact/attack anything, just hit the W or forward key, and the left mouse button and youre all good.

I agree that the "strafe" is a bit limited(its more of a sidestep), could use a couple more steps on it, but oh well.The glory of the game far outweighs the annoyances. ='.'=
