EA Reveals "Next Generation" RPG Project
"Project Gray Company" website goes active.

April 24, 2006 - Very quietly, Electronic Arts recently revealed that the company is working on a "next generation" RPG that is currently codenamed "Project Gray Company." According to a posting on the game's website by Executive Producer Steve Gray, EA has been working on the project for more than a year.
While still keeping most of the game's details under tight wraps, Gray goes on to state that the game's action takes place in a "massive open world where you can go anywhere you want" with the game's characters being powered by the same artificial intelligence technology used in The Sims 2. The game's story is built around a series of Story Quests which the player can choose to follow or the player can set off on his or her own adventures in the "massive open world environment." Gray claims that EA has assembled an "all-star team of RPG veterans" that are committed to providing an "unparalleled new RPG experience."
While no specific details of the game are provided on the game's website, a quick glance at some of the game's concept art reveals a strong Lord of the Rings influence. The game's website is also silent as to which next-generation platforms the project is targeted. However, in examining the website's source code (a little trick I picked up to get hints about new game projects), one can see that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are mentioned as specific console platforms.
The lack of specific details on the game will undoubtedly lead to much speculation in the coming weeks leading up to E3 where we expect that we'll learn more about the mysterious Project Gray Company. We will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
