Deathmatch.....in a might and magic game......one of the most stupid ideas I've ever heard. I certainly won't be picking up this installment of the M&M series much like I never picked up 9.

This game looks as if it's going to join Deus Ex: Invisible War and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel in the "Retarded use of a License Property" Hall of Shame.

Like some developer dude said on some forums: "The only thing this has in common with Might & Magic is the name"
Or something like that.

I wonder why publishers keep trying though, has this ever worked? using a well known title to make something completely different?

It worked with the Prince of Persia series.

since the game isn't out yet, and most people don't know any details...how about we keep back our negative comments towards it.

Some of you act like you know how its going to turn out already... just wait. It might turn out good. I have faith in the creators of arx fatalis.

It does in fact sound quite a bit like Arx Fatalis.

When I saw the screenshots my first thought was "Arx Fatalis" ...

I have no doubt you can make excellent RPGs as you have proven with Arx Fatalis, but this isn't being described as an RPG? says it's a "First Person Action Game".

Saying "Deathmatch gameplay mode" to a bunch of hardcore CRPG'ers is like saying "Mature, child-bearing age woman" to Michael Jackson.

I remember when, in press releases, Troika's Vampire game was said to include a "Deathmatch" mode. Good lord...you did not want to see the things that were being typed and posted...

I saw the screens, it looks good. Anyway, Arkane is made up of frenchmen, and I love france. Beautiful people, beautiful country, and they hate Bush, so I'm in.

Love ya, Arkane Studios!!! (I'm being completely serious)

Prince of Persia wasn't totally different from the original Apple game. The original game was a platformer with lots of traps and the recent series has been just that.

I'm still waiting to hear official word on whether Arx 2 is still in the works.

And I trust Arkane to make a legitimate 1st person action RPG but I don't trust Ubisoft to make one, and I don't necessarily trust Arkane to make some button masher either.

The game looks great.
And that "Evolution" gamemode sounds like it could be great fun.

I really don't understand why some people are ready to bash this game, and not something like Hellgate: London (which seems to be more "FPS" than this one).

Make sure to keep us posted and hooked up for previews, news and interviews. I requested news so we could ot a preview and was told that Ubisoft wasn't ready to talk about the game, but would let us know eventually so we could do a preview. 2 days later IGN was running one.
