Re: Questions

1. From what I've read, that depends on your definition of "good".
2. Yes, you can get it here.
3. From what I've read, a maggot ridden corpse has less bugs. But I did hear the patches get rid of most of the major issues.
4. Don't know, I didn't bother picking up this title. Especially after people told me to avoid it like the plague.

Pretty sure CGW gave it "Coaster of the Year". It was definitely one of the finalists... Rumor had it that the patches did help, though.

I started playing the game recently-- patched it to version 1.4 and apart from the odd freeze up or crash( no more than many other games) have had no problems with it at all.

Is it any good?

It's keeping me from starting Morrowind so I must be getting something out of it. Despite it's eye in the sky perspective its a very old fashioned game like Eye of the Beholder, much wandering of vast dungeons looking for keys.Combat may be too repetative and slow for some but I always prefer turn based combat and later in the game some major fights take on a pleasing strategical nature.

Many have complained that the game fails to follow D&D rules but I don't know what they are so it never bothered me.

Graphics are fine if not jaw dropping and there is enough story to make it more than a simple Dungeon hack.

Character development is fairly basic but there are lots of nice stat-boosters
and masses of nice items--too many probably as you can only use a small proportion of them.

1:whats the cap?
2: is there a mod to remove the cap?
3: is it true that all similar race/class combos (human/fighter human/paladin) all end up looking EXATCly the same?
4:how long is the game?
5: is there a mutliplayer aspect?
6: can the party be bigger than 4? you only get 4 in the demo...

1.Cap for single class is level 16 but can multi-class up to 32 levels in wide range of combinations e.g. my level 15 Paladin is presently learning to be a sorcerer while my monk is learning clerical spells.

2.Not that I know of.

3.Depends what they are wearing. One person in a suit of armour looks much like another.

4.Don't take detailed notice but feels at least as long as Wiz8 and longer than M&M9.

5.Yes

6.Yes--up to 6 there are a number of NPCs who will join

P.S.( added a few hours later)

Just finished the game -- the end comes on rather suddenly given the size of the previous levels. The spirited serenade at the end almost makes it all worth while. Patched it's by no means a bad game and a few years ago I would probably be content to play it through again with different characters. At the moment though we have an embarassment of riches so its on to Morrowind.
