Missing Textures

Hey all,

I played Arx when it first came out...
Ran into game crippling Bugs...
Patched up, was forced to start over...
Made it about Halfway thru the game,
and it bugged out again...
Frustrated I gave up...

Now years later,
With a full expectation that it is as patched as it is ever going to get...
( and a deep disappointment in current RPGs )...
I thought I'd try again...

So a fresh install, Patched to 1.17...
3.2 GHz ( Intel 478 ), 2GB RAM, nVidia 6600[256Mb],
Intel 865 AC'97 ( with EAX support )...
ATA 133 80GB HDD ( aka new not old )...
Windows 2000 SP4 ( fully updated )...

The game runs well, if not a little too fast...
But there are a number of missing textures:
The levers, large rats, torches, barrels, parts of chairs...
It's not game stopping on Level 2...
But it certainly is annoying...

Anyone else have ( and perhaps even solve ) this issue?

So, like, um... Been playing Arx with numerous missing textures...
After several frequent visits to nvidia,
I found several topics open about the problem.

NVidia identified the problem, as a game issue,
affecting Geforce 6xxx cards.

Some smart fellow made a texture update which fixes the problem...
If this site isn't completely dead,
I suggest permantly linking to or better yet hosting :

Texture Fix ZIP
Texture Fix Topic

It works like a charm...

EDIT: You just need to extract the contents of the ZIP to your Arx folder...
as in X:\Games\Arx\GRAPH
( you should already have a "misc" and "Save" folders in same directory )

From Original Post in nVidia Forums:
Regarding Version 1
quote:

Unzip the zip file into your Arx Fatalis directory, and enjoy :D

I've only just started the game, but the ones I've tested (and know work):
* Miscellaneous wooden objects (barrels, buckets, pieces of wood).
* Various wood objects in Arx.
* Various metal objects in Arx.
* Clubs.
* Longwords.
* Torches.
* Bread.
* Public notices/signs.
* Dogs.
* Pigs.
* Rats.
* Long swords.

The v2 update includes the Coiled Rope Texture

Thanks for the tip/link.
I bought a GF6800 relatively recently, so this will be just the ticket if I ever want to go look at Arx again

Awesome find!

I was wondering why the barrels were so lame, aswell as the rats etc. I thought it was just a bad discision on the developers part, until I realized that this is too much. I am very happy to have discovered this fix you found.

Thank you very much. This will help out greatly.
