I'm playing through the main quest for the first time, and I just killed Dagoth Gares. Caius said I have the corprus disease, but after all of the dreams (I did all the quests up to that in about 30 minutes), nothing happened when I slept for 24 hours. My character's level 100, with multiple constant effect fortify stat bonuses, but I tried taking them off. People say there's supposed to be stat changes, but I don't see anything in my effects list, not even a listing of corprus. Is this bugged, or do I need to trigger something to make it work? If it's relevant, I bought a spell of corprus from a merchant in a mod to see what it did. That didn't work either. Another thing, Dagoth Gares didn't acutally talk to me before I killed him. I just killed him almost instantaneously after he popped up behind me. I really would like to see the effects of Corprus, what's going on?

I'd have to check the construction set to be sure, but I don't think killing him too soon will affect your chances of catching corprus.
Corprus is a slow degenerative disease, and its effects are usually only noticed over a number of days. Is anyone reacting, erm, negatively towards you?
If not, you might have hit a glitch. On the PC version this is not too critical, as you can enter the following to replicate the effect:

I only killed Dagoth Gares when the main quest called for it. Caius told me I have Corprus, but nobody else seems to notice. I have slept for 30 days with no effects thus far. I have already tried adding Corprus to my character through the construction set, and even added the CorprusOnPC script to a battlemage in Seyda Neen. I have the journal entry, but no signs of Corprus at all. I'm pretty sure it's glitched, and I already have a mage character up to level 80 and getting some constant effect equipment.
