Finesse shooters, a la Thief and Splinter Cell...the sort of games where you don't unload everything you have into your enemy while jumping like a cocaine-addicted kangaroo and hope they die, but shoot out the light, wait for them to cross in front of the window, then nail them straight between the eyes.

Amen Timmy Finesse shooters definitely rule. I wish someone would make a horror-based, heavily-scripted sneaker where the point was the AVOID monsters. That would be cool. I hope Call of Cthulhu turns out a bit like that...

I had an idea that action games might win. I tend to like turn-based strategy and real-time strategy quite a bit because RPG development concepts are applied to entire cities in many of them.

I have a soft spot for space sims as well, but I've always felt that they would be much more interesting if I could actually LAND on the separate planets and explore them...

TBS. Can't beat a good night pondering your next move while nursing a beer.

I like good-old bloody shooters like blood1 and 2, half-life, soldier of fortune 1,2. After trying to solve some difficult quest in Bg2, they bring a lot of fun
