Gothic 2 English Version - First Impressions Thread

Please post all spoiler-free first impressions of the Gothic 2 English release in this thread.

It's been a long and arduous wait, but by the end of next week nearly everyone that really wanted Gothic 2 is going to be playing it.

So just take a moment and jot down your first impressions here. I know that once you're into the game, visits to the board will be less frequent. This is understandable.

The main purpose of this thread is to giive those who are eagerly awaiting the game a sneak peak into what they'll be diving into in the coming days.

Very very good.

Only when I started playing the game and saw the "New Journal Entry" text, and heard the sound of the feather-pen writing in the background, did I understand how much I missed this game!
I'm still in the first chapter, but form what I see the game is even better than the first one.
It really does remind me of the first Gothic, there are even quests that have the same priciple as in the first game, u'll know what I'm talking about when you start playing the game.
The combat system is a bit better, and our character starts out as more powerful than in the first game (Anyone remembers how long it took him to take out a wolf?). In here you can kill 2 wolfs with little difficulty.

If anyone has questions please post them here

Oh, but the wolves in the beginning are just youngsters. Yes, in GII the wolves have kids, too, not just the scavengers... .

But I think scavangers don't have kids anymore. Altought I might be wrong. I'm ushually to bussy wacking them to read their names

And when it comes to combat much depends on your luck. If you have like a 40% chance to have a critical, once you can take out an orc without any problems, and some other time it can take you ages to do.

D_Dog,

Do you recall if the voice for "you" is the same as the first game?

I've also been pondering in this question.

I think that it is the same voice, and if not, than it is very similiar to the one from the first game.
I remember thinking that the voice actor can charge a lot of money now that his voice is so familiar...

Two different combat systems. 'Classic' and 'one-click-combat'.

Awesome, truly awesome game. but this doesn't come as a surprise...i had no single doubt that this game would dissapoint at all.

The music is again just beatiful, awesome new environments to explore
i really like the new way of blocking attacks, and the feature to lock on target is really handy, it's alittle zelda-like...and i really like it that way.

The voice of Xardas is exactly the same as in the first. For our Hero I'm not absolutely sure. For Lares I'm pretty sure it's a different voice. (Off course I could be mistaken)

No, they can't be the same voice, but alot of them are similar sounding, notice that the characters in the game all have american accents this time? Gothic 1 they were german accents trying to sound american. i think they just people with similar sounding voices, not the same people.
