First off, I'm new here and this is the first time a game (Gothic) has motivated me enough to actually register and post on a forum. The only reason I did was because I see the entire planet talking about GII. It is also the first time I have ever seen so many people from all over the world post and actually get along. Gothic must attract a better class of people or something! You all are some awfully cool folks!!!
I just played Gothic for the first time (been sitting on my shelf for 6 months) and it left me stunned. I am confident in saying it just surpassed Morrowind as my favorite game.
Now that I'm done with my "warm fuzzy", my question is in regards to all the Gothic 3 statements I've heard/read. Is this actually in planning or is it just speculation? If this has any fact based info, is there anywhere I can obtain more information. Anything would be great.
p.s. jaz, you rock! Is there any thing Gothic you don't know? |

Yes, Gothic 3 is reality. And no, there's yet not much information about it, as it's release is far far away. PB is working on it, I think that it's at the moment still in design state. PB is gathering ideas for it. So unfortunately there's not much information available for now. Main focus right now is on the expansion pack, called "Night of the Raven", which will be released in german language in Europe next week (unless something changes) and the english language release date is not know yet. And this leaves us, english speaking Gothic fans, at the edge of nervous breakdown |

Whailor, Thanks so much. "Night of the Raven"-even sounds cool. Can't even wait and have yet to play G2! Is this a sign I may never sleep again? If PB makes another insomniac title my wife might just kick me out on to the porch. So long as I can take my machine with me, I think I'll be o.k.
Wait, Raven?!?! That doesn't have anything at all to do with a certain someone from the old camp does it? Damn, just when you think Velaya is all on her lonesome! Yup, porch for sure. |

@Korgan: Welcome to the forums and thank you for the compliment - but there's a lot I don't know, including many things Gothic (especially Gothic II). Looks like I had much more free time on my hands during the times of Gothic 1... _________________ Jaz |

I think that the raven comes from more then just those sounds. Besides, those sounds were far from being 'scary'. For example, if you played Everquest, then this kind of sound was almost in every jungle on Kunark continent. And these were one of the most 'innocent' sounds..
As for raven, then there's more to it I believe. There are few objects in the game named raven-like, and I doubt that they're named after the Raven in Gothic 1. I guess that we will find out more about this 'Raven', when we finally get the add-on |

JoWooD say there will be French and English translations of the add-on. About Gothic 3 - it's in the development stage. That's about all the official info you'll get at this stage. _________________ Jaz |

@Korgan, If you thought Gothic was fantastic and highly adictive, I've got bad news for you. G2 is much, much, better. Forget about wife and family, this one is going to rock your socks. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

They have been working on Gothic III for about 6 to 7 months now (a lot of the time was spent on looking for a new graphics engine - and the add-on was a parallel development). It took them about a year to make Gothic II, but they didn't have to work with a new engine there. I have no idea how long PB needed to make Gothic I, though. _________________ Jaz |
