Enchant Question. I think I got ripped off.

I enchanted a katana to have some fire damage. I chose the magnitude and set the method to when used and for on touch , but nothing happens. Was I supposed to have it set for target? Why give the option if it does nothing. I am a little peeved since it took me a long time to save up that 2400 gold. Anyone have any ideas?

I havn't spent much time enchanting things or creating my own spells..it could have something to do with what you said but I'm not sure..the only thing I am sure of is when you make spells or enchant things save it first..just in case it doesn't work.

When enchanting is there a chance to cast thing like there is when making spells?

First of all, did you have a soul gem (that had a soul inside!)? I think enchanting needs the gem that actually gives the item the charges. For example the 60k valued soul gem that you can steal from the mages guild gives 300/300 charges when used in enchanting.

Second, the bottom left corner of the enchanting screen (I missed it myself on the first time) has a box that controls when the item actually uses the enchantment. Set it to "When strikes" (or similar) if you want the item to cast the spell when you hit the enemy.

Hope this helps some.

Right as I said I set it to when it hits and in order for me to have spen the money I would have had to have put a soul gem in the weapon. I did and I thought it was working because I hit the mage and fire came out, I guess she attacked me with fire at for her first aattack.
