So, I'm exploring the area around the swamp camp, and I encounter Swamp sharks for the first time. Taking out my trusty long bow, I take a couple of shots, and end up irritating the thing.
I run. As it turns out, my only direction available is back through the camp.
The shark follows me, and eventually I lose it, but it does a pretty good job on some of the inhabitants of the camp. One Gor and a Baal are killed, as well as a couple of unnamed templars and a wack of novices.
Anyhow, it's late, I save instead of load, and now they're gone from the game.
Am I screwed?
By the by, no I don't know the names of the dead, but one was the templar who said he was too busy watching for swamp sharks to talk, and the other was the guru who watches the three men working with the weed mashers. |

After it ran out of things to kill, it went back to the swamp.

Vital people are invincible, but the guy that watches the sharks would kill it, I've seen him kill 4 at once cause he's so leet.
Kinda confuses me when I read your experience. |

You need the recommend of the guy who supers the weed masher to join the sect. If you already have his recommend then it may be ok. Of course after that performance maybe they don't want you 
Since you really don't know who got whacked then you probably should go back. |
