Need Help: Gothic 2 (with NOTR) seems too tough

I feel a bit disapointed with Gothic 2 (with NOTR installed) because I feel figths too tough. Usually in RPG I never rush at xp hunt and mops killing but prefer take the time to enjoy the adventures and quests.

But in Gothic I feel my char so weak and learning curve so slow that I see me do xp rush anyway. In fact I feel it as if I had already screw up my char.

Any adivce? Perhaps I should remove NOTR? But I saw contradict report about that and difficulty. Also I have already seen some addition brought by the addon and I would not like going back..

Did you play Gothic 2 without add-on?

My advice fits the way you said you like to play. Take your time, talk to everyone, and solve as many quests in safety as you can. When you need to go to another area find an escort. If you need to solve a quest that you are too weak to do, find someone to help. And remember you do NOT have to do a quest as soon as you get it. Some are simply too tough and you need to wait until you are stronger.

Don't forget to pray everyday(100 gold) and donate 50 gold to the fire mage in the Khorinis market area. That is the cheapest way to gain str., mana, dex, and life. Visit Wulfgar at dawn And spend your LP's wisely. NOTR forces you to specialize.

Gorath: Neither Gothic nor Gothic 2, I would like to play Gothic first that could certainly help me a lot (plus it seems better than the 2) but I can't find a version translated in my native language, even only the text.

Uriziel : Ok thanks for your answer I'll try it. In fact it's a bit too much spoiling but the truth is that I had already investigated prying and noticed nothing and put it as only a mood material! And about the fire mage I gave him a tribute in fact to get a benediction for a quest but when I did it I hadn't 50 because of obscure reason I won't detail. So those spoil are very welcome.

About LP send wisely that's not easy when you discover the game and the system, I already put points there and there, archery, a bit on one hand fight and on strength and on skinery and on stealth. But well level 4 soon there and I still have 5 points back so perhaps I haven't screw up my char yet.

You should uninstall the add-on. Itīs too hard for a newbie. Play G2 and restart TNotR when youīre through. The add-on only covers the first 2 chapters.

Thanks for the advice but that's definitely not the one I wanted to heard!

I have read that for the beginning the add-on makes it easier until about level 10 because of stuff like to be able to get help and other things I don't remember. But that after it makes it tougher as you said. Do you disagree with that?

If what I read is true I feel that I'll see at level 10 if I get back or not to Gothic 2 without NOTR.

For now I feels it better, I did progress, achieved a few quest and goals I believed closed for me (be able lockpick, and choose some more jobs, thanks to the hint of a NPC for one and for the other after terrible hunts because of no more wolves arround). I also made a strong progression in the quest of the guild that I am trying to join. And few other things, so despite many quests to do that seem quite impossible I still feel to have more forward me and reachable.

I also changed my point of view on many things, most related to the advices given to me in this thread:
- Slow down my preference into pure adventure exploration through the world and to explore more deeply the town (at first it was too much information at same time for me).
- I also noticed a few quest with important steps that require a deep invistigation more than follow a logic lead by very directive hints. So explore deeply before starting to feel that a quest is going bad. I have many more things to discover and people to talk with so I'm not yet in front of a wall.
- I also take care to accept as normal the numerous sudden death I could got, it's also a lot the design of the game.
- I feel I progress a little in fights (start feel better the rythm thing for 1vs1 and think I am discovering doable combo hits).

Yes. Itīs easier until you reach the town. As soon as you leave through the rear gate it gets harder.

Though, if you have the impression you get it under control thereīs no reason to go back to G2.

Easier than without the add-on until you leave the rear gate? You certainly means the east gate. Well then it's not until level 10 but much sooner.

I have it under control? Well that's not what I could say. Ha well I have stuff to play and don't feel blocked. As soon as I am not requested to do stuff much harder than what I could manage I'll continue even if it's at the price of dying a lot too often.

Also I have in mind to get back to Gothic 2 rules for the Skill Points by using cheat code to give me more SP in order to compensate the extra cost. I know there are also tougher monsters with the add-on. But there are also the tablets and I already found a little set (but still need to find how to read them).
