Now, if you, like me and many others, have defeated Gothic so many times you can do the Sleeper's temple while asleep, here is a test for you, and you need to use Marvin-mode. This is the test of hand to hand fighting, eschewing all weapons, and only light armor (optional).
First, use edit abilities.
Then type "damage"
set 0 to the damage you want your fists to do, like for instance, if you can actually go get the Orc Hammer, you can set your fists to 50 if you like, or just set it to a crude sword. Just train your strength up, and do what you want. Set your damage everynow and then up every 5 levels or something. Totally up to you. Oh and if you want to kill with your fists, set damagetype to 40. Then type "42" in the stats window to end Marvin-mode. Try this, see if you can beat the game with nothing but your barehands, and some gauntlets.

In both Gothic I and II there are no gauntlets, all armor is single piece.  |

I thought you'd emigrated 
Sure was that mean old Scar, his default stat's are slightly more than the others, with no armour or weapons. |

Yes, there is no gauntlets, but I was really referring to all armors, which have a leather fist, or metal gauntlet. They dont really affect damage at all, and since there is no real "fist damage" (under damage, its set to 0, so fist damage is your strength), gauntlets cant help.
