I've completed Gothic, enjoying it a lot, and am waiting with enthusiasm for Gothic II. Problem is, of course, what to do in the intervening days and weeks during the gaming hour. I am trying to play Baldur's Gate, but it is not quite to my personal taste. I am an old timer pencil and paper d&d player, so the rules aren't the problem.. I think its the necessity to juggle multiple character parties after years and years of having a real-live-brain behind each and every player character. Would some kind soul reply with a list of some PC games which are playable by one individual player-character, more or less in the manner of Gothic? I'd prefer story-quests that are fantasy rather than high-tech but anything would be welcome.
Thanx

Morrowind should be out soon (May at last word) and has those elements (fantasy, single player etc.) It looks to be very good too. I have mine on pre-order.

Well, M&M 9 is very different from Gothic, but when you are searching for very good new RPGs, I can suggest M&M 9 and Wizardry 8 (but as I said, they are different from Gothic - you have party, firstperson view...).

Ok this game should keep you very busy...it's my favorite too...and has an awesome story...
Vampire:The Masquerade - Redemption
If anyone here has not yet played this..they damn well better!
And when done with that...try out soulbringer..it's diff.type of rpg from vamp...but also loads of fun...
The Vampire game is more serious game though...

I know you said you prefer fantasy, but anyone who hasn't played them should check out Deus Ex and System Shock 2. They were developed by Warren Spector, who had a major part in making some of the Ultima games.
DX is a mix of FPS and RPG set in the not-to-distant future.
System Shock 2 is a mix of FPS, RPG and survival horror in a somewhat more distant future. |

Drakan was a little like Gothic. Never finished it though. |
