Captive, now that had me spending a lot of time in front of the Atari ST.

Does anyone recall a game called Dragonflight? By a german company called Thalion? I played that for quite a bit, didn't realize it borrowed from Ultima until later.

If you like D&D crpgs try the so called Goldbox games:

Pool of Radiance
Curse of Azure Bonds
Secret of the Silver Blades
Champions of Krynn
Death Knights of Krynn
Dark Queen of Krynn
Gateway to the Savage Frontier
Treasure of the Savage Frontier
Pools of Darkness

they are still fun to play. i recommend the Krynn triology.

use the 'turbo' utility when u play under Win9x.

all games can be found at http://www.classic-trash.com

Another good old game that i would recommend, its stradergy(light one and easy) Vikings: The fields of conquest also know as kingdoms of england II(amiga gamers should remember that) Another good stradergy game that i remember is Warlords II Deluxe. I'm not sure if those golden oldies plays at WinXP.

Bloodstone - An Epic Dwarven Tale

A very rich and detailed role-playing experience revolves around the ancient Dwarven tribes, and the search for the legendary axe of Khamalkhad.

another forgotten gem !

If you want great old FRPs, there's nothing better than Might&Magic 4 and 5. Great story, good interface...

About other oldies...
Try
Gods - a great arcade-adventure game
The lost vikings - one of the beast games ever
Blood&Magic - The only RTS made by AD&D rules
...

Yeah, Lost Vikings rocked! Did anyone see the sequel, Norse By Norsewest? I heard it was only released for consoles or something.

Hmm, has anyone noticed what happens if you connect to theunderdogs.org ? You just get a spam-link page.

I have just recently found a nice free (unlike MOSLO, which is shareware) utility for slowing down old programs: SLOWDOWN.

Download it from author's page, source code is available as well:
