This feature can really crank up your items, if you find the right "things" to add into your sockets. So far Iv'e only found rings, amulets and character skill runes that can be put into sockets.

Even runes from another character type can be put into sockets without making it a "item" for specific character only. However you will not be able to learn other character type spells/skills even though you can carry a weapon/armour that enhances such a feature.

I'm a bit dissappointed that "skulls" can't be inserted into sockets, as you can find some pretty good skulls with some nice features.

Right now I have a 2 socket (filled up) helm with a protection overall of 280 and a lot of side features, which is way more than any other helm I can find/buy at my current level.

And the good thing is that you can have the smith clear the sockets again, if you find better "jewels", all but one of the previous "jewels" will be lost. I don't know if this is intentional, but when you want to clear the sockets in an armour / weapon, you give it to the smith, and point and click on one of the "items" in one of the filled sockets. It will remove all items from all sockets, but you will have the "item" you clicked, on your mouse pointer, the rest dissappears???

Rings and amulets are very rare in the game if you have to find them yourself, but every merchant have a little selection you can buy, and the same merchant will change his collection from time to time.

I'm still sort of lost when it comes to socketing items. It's a nice feature that you can "re-socket" an item, but you do lose some gear as a downside.

I've yet to find any rings, runes etc that would significantly boost my socketed items. Like Diablo, I suspect there are hidden recipes that will provide a greater boost than the individual parts.

This thread is kinda what mine above is trying to talk about also...I just read this one and it helps out abit. I couldn't figure out how to use socketed items excpet by going to the blacksmith... so you can put other characters stuff in the sockets?! I should really read the manual with games like this. I figured that since I knew diablo I would know this. oh well, I'm at school now so I'll have to check it out tonight...what exactly can be inserted? And can items be socketed on top of the blacksmith's upgrades???

No, either you fill a socket with the blacksmith's upgrades, or "jewelry" as they describe in the manual. But you can Ex: put a jewelry in socket 1 and a blacksmith upgrade in socket 2.

Jewelry is : Rings, amulets, and Combat/spell runes, but not skulls. I don't know if any combination of "jewelry" will make any difference.

Personal, I fill the sockets with powerfull rings and amulets, as they boost your armors /weapons much more than any blacksmith had offered me so far

There are appearantly 3 types of sockets: Bronze (Brown), silver (Grey), and Golden (Yellow). And not unexpected the golden sockets gives a sligthly better effect when you add "jewels" and bronze gives a slightly less god effect.

Have anybody found an item with 4 sockets???

I have another question for discussion regarding socket weapons.

If you add powerfull jewelry to a Ex: Sword, the swords level will increase according to the level of the jewelry, thus according to the manual your weapon speed will be slower the higher the level of the weapon, and that is also what you can see yourself, but my question is has anybody found a usable rule for when it can pay off to upgrade your weapon and when not???
I mean a good jeweled sword do more damage, but is significant slower. I think it's most of the time hard to decide. Now I go for the most powerfull hit, and have a very slow swing rate, but when I use special attacks or combos the attacks are still very quick.
Any thoughts about this anybody?
