Controversy

It's me again!!!!!!!!!! I have a mind boggler on my hands. The ending of Gothic 1 doesn't fit where Gothic 2 is picking up. Ok, in the first one, after the sleeper is sent into the portal by the magic sword your character voice says something like "I came out of the temple to daylight and the barrier was gone..." Gothic 2 picks up where he is trapped in the cave after he has slain the sleeper and a earthquake seals him in. Note: He said he exited the temple.

Am I missing something? It's be great if someone could clear the fog for me.

P.S. In the one of the books "Battle of Varrant: Volume 2" there is a small mention of Lee if ne1 cares.

Thanks,
Mike

You'll notice he never said when he left the temple or how he got out. He meerly says that he survived, got out and there is more adventure at hand. Typical opener for a sequel. It's vague enough that PB could have spun it almost any way they liked.
Heck, they could have said he was trapped under the Temple and an ice age started and he was frozen for a 1000 years. Then he's found by a team of scientists, thawed out, and starts going on adventures in space! Although I don't think that would have gone over well with the fans.

I asked the same question a while back.

Essentially there is no good reason for it.

There's also no bad reason for it. The end of Gothic is very cryptic... it says nothing except that the hero returned to daylight. The end doesn't say how or when, simply that it happened. There is only an issue here if you try to make one. This is an issue for the sake of an issue.

The transition from Gothic to Gothic II is explained in the latest G2 newsletter by JoWooD. I guess we can put it online over the weekend.
