I'm not sure if this is a bug/spoiler or exploit, but I was struggling along at the beginning, despairing of ever getting to even lvl 5, getting killed by everything when I took the Sect member from the Old Camp to the New Camp and he killed things along the way. However, I couldn't get him to go much off the path to kill, so there was still alot around to take me out between the Sect Camp and OC. Then I thought, if the Baal helped me, maybe Dusty will help when I shuttle him to the Sect Camp, at least help me fight a little. So I tried it, not only did Dusty help, if I lured the monsters to him, he would take them out and I got the exp. It doesnt' work with the mega monsters, but for scavengers, lizards, bloodflys it sure does. So I decided, what would happen if I didn't take Dusty to the Sect Camp right away? Well, we have covered most of the world between the OC, the Sect Camp and the New Camp and have taken out the majority of monsters. I am now lvl 6, just dropped Dusty off and think I can handle things pretty well by now. Hope this is helpful to someone.

Good luck

It is not a bug, just a little help you get. If you do Thorus' quest, Moderag will kill monsters for you as well.
