bow and lockpick

Ok this may seem dumb and probably is, but I bought a chitin bow and arrows...but I can't seem to use them! Hitting the fire/attack button while the bow is equipped does nothing.

I seem to have the same problem with lockpicks as well. Do I need to buy a skill?

Make sure you equiped the arrows by dropping them on character.
Also lockpicks must be equiped by droping on character then press F to activate and Mouse button to pick.
