How do you get the caldera mine to shut down in the mission to gain the respect of the final councilor.

I believe you need to free the head slave to get that to happen.

Hello, I've been playing the game for about a week now. A couple of daya ago I freed the slave and an entry in my journal told me I had closed the mine as part of the Redoran quest even though I was unaware that I was dealing with this quest. Will this have any effect on the main quest?

Shouldn't pose any problems for you.
