What The Heck???

I live in CA. Been waiting for G2 for a while like the rest of many U.S. gamers.

I think all the planets may be aligned, or horridly misaligned. Something must be out of whack.

The reason? The G2 date is closer than ever but hasn't been pushed out by 6 months.

Can anyone explain? Should I play the lotto. Or should I avoid lightening storms?

Something is very odd...

/sarcasm off

/drooling...

If you were so waiting for it you could have bought it in June, like most people here did.

Looks like its coming out for real here in the USA. I am curious to see if it is a different build than the UK/European from June.

I'm a gamer with a job and a wife and a kid... so I just sorta wait around until games hit the stores near my house. In the meantime, I'm super duper busy hehe...

Its gonna be identical. Just like every other game that gets released in multiple countries. Doesnt matter how long apart they are, the only thing they ever do is fix some bugs.

Right, then it would be a different build, see? Maybe it is my mistake for using such a technical term. Perhaps "software version" would have been a more generic way to put it.

Pardon me, however, if you knew exactly what "build" meant in this context.

Well, It's a week until the supposed release, and the Atari site doesn't even have a box pic or release date.

if you ask me, it will be exactly the same version (1.31) with the same bugs ect. simply because all countries with same languages gets the same version.

german-speaking countries (austria, switzerland, Luxembourg ect.) gets the same german version and english speaking countries (england, USA, canada ect.) the same english version, that's it.

of course you can say they had 6 month time but again, as long as there is no patch for the english version the bugs will be included in the "U.S. version".

and i dont see why the U.S. must always get sth. special

I think both is possible. Seeing how no patch was released since June I wouldn´t be surprised if the US-version had the same build. But on the other hand Atari announced it would be 'enhanced'.

I am perfectly aware of what a software build is (I should know, its partly what I do for a living).

However your description is not accurate. A build is not limited to bug fixes. If the software is a different build, or even a different "software version" as you put it, anything can be different. It is purely up to the software developer what they wish to change between builds.

Heck, it might not even be recognizable in the next build.

Ignoring definitions for a second, I wasn't flaming you (Sorry if I came across like that). I have just seen way too many companies claim to be "improving" games, only to release it and it be identical (save a few bug fixes that are already available via a patch).

Whatever its condition though, if you dont already have G2, buy it as soon as you can, you wont be dissapointed.
