No, the games still look the same. But WinXP is still the better OS if you have enough RAM and a relatively fast CPU. Itīs fast and stable.

None.

Until games are made that are XP only theres no reason to upgrade to XP for gaming reasons.

edit one positive aspect of upgrading to xp is automatic driver updates. This may help games look better?

Yes thats what I thought.I could only see a diff maybe in the fonts or something along that line.I do have a great system that is very stable, not like what I have read about w98 being unstable.

Very true!

I have Win2K and I expereince no problem with games whatsoever. My friend with XP has *a lot* of problems with games compatibility. I'd say that IMHO Win2K makes most programs run smoother than W98. But still Gorath was true - never change a working system, unless you get paid for doing so

I've had XP since release and haven't experienced any compatibility problems with any software. I ran Windows 2K on my home machine before that - no problems there either.

The main things that affect the performance of games seem to be the video card, RAM, and CPU/Motherboard combination. Hard disk speed may have some effect as well. Knowing how to unload non-essential programs via MSCONFIG is also useful.

That someone might have been refering to the newer version of directx.
Let me just remind you that w98 come with dx7 and xp with dx8.1.
But, if you played some new games, you are bound to have already installed up-to-date directx.
So, no, games dunnot look better in xp, although they are a bit slower,.. just a bit.
