Hi all,

I'm having troubles with playing Gothic on my computer. Well, not playing actually, but exitting. When I exit it takes quite a while for the game to exit, and the desktop te reappear correctly. Any other memory consuming program I run thereafter, locks up my PC. Doesn't matter if its Winamp, Mplayer2, Media Player 8, or Gothic itself.
I monitored memory and processor usage, and my memory stays low, at about 120-160MB I guess, and my processor keeps busy between 80%-100% which doesn't surprise me much.

I'm running the game in 1024x768 32BIT.
My specs are

AMD T-bird 1400 Mhz
256 MB RAM (No DDR)
Elsa Gladiac Geforce 2MX 32 MB AGP
40 GB 7200 RPM 100 UDMA HDD
Abit Motherboard, integrated sound, but don't use it.
Phillips USB boxes(Which acts as soundcard as well)
3Com 10Mbit network Card
M$ IntelliMouse Explorer
14" IBM Monitor

OS is Windows XP

All other games and apps run fine, and memory usage is fine as well, Gothic runs stable and smooth, I only ran into problems when screwing with Marvin Mode, but otherwise GREAT performance.

I wouldn't know what this could be, except some bad memory closeage problems.

If anyone would have any input, i'd be gratefull.

Thanks in advance,

Khalistro

I was having the same problem and upgraded to the newest Nvidia reference drivers. This seems to have solved that problem. I have a Geforce3 card. The card's manufacturer might have modified drivers but, in my case, they weren't up to date.

Hmmm, you might be right, but about a month anda half ago I upgraded my drivers already, because of Baldurs Gate, that was running very, very laggy.

But maybe tehy'll have some new drivers out now. I'll give it a shot tonight, or this weekend.

Thanks fot the info,

Khalistro.

Lately, you need to check at least once a week to keep up to date on Nvidia's drivers. They've been cranking out updates at a rapid pace!

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

known issue, has to do with VIA, NVidia and XP. At the moment, the three parties blame each other for the problem.

It doesn't only happen with Gothic. It happens with most games.

Well, thanks wysiwyg.

My problems were over after installing the newest Nvidia pack drivers.

They said they weren't tested or certified for Windows XP, but I gave it a shot, and Gothic went down nice and smooth

Thanks alot,

Khalistro
