Ideas for a new Rogue-like

Hey all,

Even though I've not quite finished my Chaos remake (from the ZX Spectrum Julian Gollop classic), I'm thinking of starting a new project. As I'm no artist I was thinking of making a Rogue-like game.

I've decided to build it from the ground up rather than start with the Angband source-code. This allows me to make some major changes and innovations. As I'm at the planning stage I wondered if any body has any ideas for features/setting they'd like to see incorporated?

What features do you like/not like in the existing Rogue-likes? Which inventory/magic/combat systems have you favoured?

Cheers, M.
