MM9 - After 3 hours into the game...

The beginning sucks. Big time. The nice thing is it gets better. Big time, too

I agree.. the first two places are boring, but once you're done with the imp quest of the Anskram Keep(or something similar) you'll meet the "real game".

Yeah try the chasm of the dead at level 11. One spell caster with sparks. Lots of fun. When i left the chasm I was level 20.

So I can assume you give it the "seal of approval"?

Just entering the Chasm now. Level 14. And managed to get all the characters past their first prmotions though it still looks like i'm for tough times ahead here

I've had it drop to desktop a few times when initiation conversations with other people, to quote other people here, Save Save Save.

Ok, How did you manage to get past those Apparitians in the Chasm. I've put everything i had into one of the, and it didn't seem to even flinch. (And i notice that they seem to pick one of you characters and just pummel them (In general) with the apparitians you cannot heal that one character fast enough.

Very good spell against them is turn undead. It make them run away and dont care about you.
You can pass them or easily kill them.

I think i'm going to do a few more other things first then come back to that with better characters.

I see the annoying "Monster Reset" feature is still present in MM9 where all the monsters get reset over time . (Including the dungeons)

Well yes, it gets my approval - but this is for MM fans only. I think those who haven't played a MM game before will have a hard time. That's mostly because even the US manual sucks and doesn't explain a lot of things. And combat feedback is poor - the only thing that helps you in melee is the writing at the bottom of the screen. Other than that - nada. I liked Wizardry 8, where your opponents "degraded" during combat *g*

MM9 has a hard contendor on my HD, by the way. Just fooling around with Jedi Knight 2, too. Now - this game REALLY rocks

I'm trying sooo hard to like this game. I find myself saying "I liked the way they did it in MM7" a lot. Even more- "Wiz8 did this so much better." Tomorrow's my last day to take MM9 back to EB for store credit. I really hate to do that- MM7 is one of my top 5 of all time, and I've always enjoyed the series back to MM4. What to do, what to do.....

Please stop posting these "I played it 3 hours and it sucks" messages.

I have played m&m 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and all of them are amazingly crappy in the beginning. But despite the crappy beginnings, it is the second finest crpg series ever made.

No one posted "I've played three hours and it sucks. Period.". Read it again.

In my defense, I've played about 25 hours. The bugged Imp quest cost me around 10 hours, though, so I'm only finishing up Guberland.
