The subject of this topic is just what I'm wondering: Does anybody know if Pirana Bytes or Infogrames have any intentions of releasing Gothic II as a console game (in addition to PC)? |

The JoWooD CEO mentioned an XBox version some time ago. No idea about its current status. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

I thought I read somewhere that although they were thinking of a console game too, they wouldn't make it. To bad, I would really loved playng this game on console too. |

I don't know where I read it (to much info about Gothic), but "they" obviously stand here for PB, the developers. It can also be that it was just a rumour, so don't pay to much attention to this post. |

G1 was once announced for GC (and maybe other systems), but obviously it was dropped.
PB said that G2 won't be released for a console. |

I always hate it when some game that has always been on PC suddenly shifts to a console game (like Halo and Obi-wan, those where first said to come out on PC). It don't matter if the game comes out on both a console and PC (like GTA3) but I hate game project that shift from PC to console. |

Really, I hope they (Precisely, the pronoun "they" refers to Piranha Bytes, the developers for Gothic 2.) won't be forced to make the console game, at least in short term, so that they can concentrate mainly on the addon, BOTH in German and English, and on Gothic 3. |

i think that the gothic controls would work very well on and X-Box or PS2 controller. _________________

Thatīs why I asked. Itīs normal that the console conversions are done by another developer. I donīt know if Xicat canned the ports. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

i guess it just turned out, thst a port of G1/2 is to complicated. since the original engine is much too bad for a console game (especially regarding bugs and stability - it would never pass the Q&A) a port would require a completly new engine. and G is not really known outside germany, so its unlikely to sell enough units... |
