So what do I need to know about beating people up vs. killing them. I heard that arrows always kill people. So is the same true for a bladed weapon? If I want to just knock a guy out should I switch to a club? Or my fists? And let's say I decide I want to kill a guy, if it turns out I can knock a guy out with any weapon, how would I kill the guy with the same weapon? Just hit him again after he's down?

Well, Arrows/bolds kill
If you use a melee weapon, and the other character is on the ground, you've beaten him up, you then can kill the character by hitting him again with a pointy weapon (not a hammer/club)

So far for NPC's, creatures are killed when they fall on the floor

Owh, btw, you shouldn't kill NPC'S
Often they're crucial for the game....

Try to avoid killing except where its necessary or you are near the end of the game on an exp hunt. The fact that you can't kill with clubs and non spiky maces can work to your advantage in certain areas as it means you can pick fights and be sure of only being knocked down if it goes wrong.

(N)on (P)layer (C)haracter

Not usually monsters but humanoid charcaters in the game not under player control

Monsters are not considered NPC's since they are "dumb"

NPC's can usually be interacted with in some way other than thumping them on the noggin

You have to watch out who you kill. I killed the "wrong" person in the new camp cave and everyone turned on me.

Just use a sword.Best and fasted ways to knock an NPC down, you kill him.
If you want to kill him press use+forward button when you still have your sword and hell kill him.
I dont kill them, just know them down

That was my mistake. I used the bow and killed Shrike. Later, I went to an earlier saved game and beat the crap out of him.

I'm curious as to why someone put an empty post on a thread that hadn't seen any new posts in almost two and a half months.
