Backstabbing and other Survivor abilities

In my first game, my Survivor evolved into a Warrior/Wizard that had lockpick, trap detection and trap setting skills. A great character, but this time I would like to play as a thiefier character. The problem is, although my character is a good archer, she needs some up-close and personal touches.

Is there a way to improve dagger skills? I dont see that anywhere. SO far I've resisted giving her sword abilities, but she gets mashed in melee fighting and as the game progresses this is becoming a bit of a problem (1,000 orcs later...)

Also, I haven't been able to figure out how to backstab or hide in the shadows to sneak up on people. Any pointers would be welcome.

There are several great skills you can use with a survivor. Assassin's Kiss, Embrace Shadows, Poison Weapon, Blind, Skin of Poison and Fade from Sight are all great for become a sneaky assasin. Combined with the survivor's special ability and you can sneak up and backstab enemies easily.

I'll have to give myself some of those then. I'm only level 18 so lots of chance to get up to level 4 in them - already using Poison for my arrows.

My survivor has three levels of lockpick, 2 levels of trap, one level of evade traps, and a couple of other Survivor skills. So far she's doing OK because she has three levels of archery, but as the bad guys get badder, she will definitely need those other skills.

There isnt a way to increase dagger skill. Its the weapon you use if you dont want to increase any weapons I suppose.

Well the most powerful bugged skill in the game is scorpion traps. You can complete the entire game with 3 scorpion traps and aura of command.

In fact in the game there are only a few things that can kill one scorion trap. They are dragon riders and josephina. I think the end boss can kill one. I think joesephina can kill two on a good day. But nothing in the game can kill three.

If I were you id try to beat the game with out the scorpion traps, and only pull them out for the josephina battle. Otherwise youre cheating yourself.

It's true about those traps - I discovered how to use them quite late in my first game and I'm glad of that. My character was mostly fighter, so it didn't really matter - she was so powerful not much got in her way. In this game, I'm only allowing myelf to take a couple with me into any area and use them as a last resort. although I got bored in the sewers and let a few fly just to clear out some of that huge area.

Never mind the scorpions - with three levels in Elemental Arrow, three in poison and and four in Archery there isn't much so far that can beat my "thief" right now - the only tough battle I've had recently was the one with George's murderer and I fixed that by charming my helmet appropriately. Lichs, Giant Orc Warriors - no problemo. Sneaking around invisible and letting fly one of those elemental arrows takes care of most nasties.

But I still haven't done much with that backstab skill. I'll have to give it a shot at some point now that I have a couple of good daggers.
