Leave it up to Roqua!

Good call on the disabling guests posts tho, I hate that sort of thing anyway. You cannot enforce any type of rules on language with guests, for one. It also gives people who have regular accounts, but no spine, a way to lip off without taking any flak for it.

Yeah, I've seen that kind of security measure all over the net...shouldn't be too hard to do...

Nonetheless, I do like to know who I'm talking to, and overall I think disallowing 'guest' posting is a good move...anybody who has serious interest in discussing something in an adult manner on this site can take 2 minutes to register...

I like the being able to post as a guest since I am constantly auto-logging out. But considering the amount of immature posts, I can deal with it.

That could probably be looked into. You'd have to take it up with Myrthos.

I never knew it was such a big problem. Though I check comments here infrequently, I don't know if I've ever come across a single spam post here, though I guess now I know why. It's a shame you had to do that, because I think the guests I do see most often do contribute with good comments.

Putting up a verifier for posters could work well, as long as it doesn't exclude more than intended, i.e. perhaps a poster here relying on apps (for whatever reason) that read text aloud on webpages. Don't know exactly how those apps works these days, but just wanted to speak my mind.

here.. just plug it in You can use those code pictures also of course but i fear a plugin will implement it for all users so you have to code around it again. This kinda sucks if you upgrade phpBB regulary.

"Powered by phpBB 2.0.15 © 2001", forget about that upgrade comment

I must say that regularly there came some fresh wind from guest comments. I haven't noticed a lot of all the spamming (that means: good job moderators! ), but if it really was that way, than this is the best option for now, IMO.

Sem - I believe this ban has been lifted as of late last week. But I could be mistaken.

hmm, things are going to fast for me. Am I getting old already or is checking the forums only two times a week too little?

I'm against guest posting for the most part, because it side-steps moderation.
