Help, I think i may have screwed up the main quest!

I was doing the main quest I need this guys skull to bring to the orc lady in the mage quild in Balmora. The problem is that early in the game I picked the skull up and I thought I put it in a cheat for safe keeping. I cant find it now though at all and I think I may have just dropped it somewhere randomly. I cant continue with the main quest unless I find it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I cant believe that they would make it this easy to mess up the whole main quest.

start over if you must, your not that far into the game anyways. but you might want to try finding any other skull elsewhere and see if that works

You might want to try adding it into the game.
player->additem "misc_Skull_Llevule"

don't know if it will work, but worth a try.
