I can't recharge the darn thing. I bought the magic polish and tried to merge them, but no such luck. I thought perhaps I had to completely drain the shiny plate before I could charge it back up, but it disappears once you hit 0 charges. I can't "use" or "merge" the polish. Someone care to help a dummy please? _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I've only ever had a couple Gad's, and i don't remember having any problem with that one, but i have a poor memory...
What message do you get when you try merging the polish with the mirror?
If it says "these items can't be merged" maybe you have to sell-buy it to get it recharged.
If it says "(character) can't merge..." then maybe you need more Gad levels. _________________ If thousand-year-old family traditions are so important to you, why do you have indoor plumbing and electricity in your family's house? |

It's the "can't be merged" message. I've bought up 3 or 4 polishes to recharge it, but it looks like I'll have to try the sell-buy routine with it. I'm not sure why I didn't think to try that earlier.
Edit- yep, sell-buy does the trick! _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

My gadgeteer 's mirror disappeared after using it up in both games. Go figure! |

It's the same as with mana stones- you have to do the sell-buy while the item still has charges left. Obviously, running them down to 1 charge gets you the most "bang for your buck", although I've found the difference in price between a "nearly empty" item and a fully charged one seems to run about 25%. For a mana stone, that's around 150gp. For the mirror, I think it was about 1000gp. In either case, the investment is a pittance compared to the value of a fully charged item. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

The price difference is the merchants' profit margin. They buy at the same price no matter how many charges an item has. The higher your Communication Skill, the smaller the difference.
(unlike W-7, where you could cast Recharge on stuff up to 99 and sell for a massive profit. This game's big money-maker is potion mixing) _________________ If thousand-year-old family traditions are so important to you, why do you have indoor plumbing and electricity in your family's house? |
