i don't have Wizardry 8 yet - but i have battled through Bane again and transferred my party to Crusaders of the Dark Savant. i am now near the end of Wizardry 7(-> Hall of Gorrors - my Valkyrie killed the Fiend of 9 Worlds alone and had a level advance from level 22 to level 33 !) .
How does Wizardry 8 handle the import of Wizardry 7 parties ?
# level / hitpoints / abilities / stats
# what items will be transfered ?
(muramasa blade/diamond ring/cane of corpus/*light* *sword*/ rod of sprites)
# what happens with my Multi Class characters
Ninja/Mage/Alchemist ?
Bard/Ninja/Bard ?
Mage/Ninja/Mage/Ninja ?
Priest/Bishop ?
will they have all abilities they have learned in the previous games ?

it will import the parties at a lower level and without much of the equipment you have gathered. the only difference with imported parties is you alliance affiliation. this determines which area you start in the game |

Party members transfer at level five, with some of their equipment (my bard transferred with ALL instruments except for the Horn of Prometheus, which is not available in Wiz8). Equipment not transferred will be replaced with basic equipment in some cases (e.g. if your old armor doesn't transfer, you'll still get something in cloth or leather, but if your gauntlets don't transfer, don't expect replacements). Spells are also reduced accordingly.
One note - if you're playing Wiz7 with a bard, you're used to having the bard casting mage spells. Bards in Wiz8 don't get any spells. But I have found much better musical instruments, so the loss isn't as great as you might think.
