Not trying to start a flame war, just stating an opinion.

I've uninstalled the demo. A combat system that forces you to move forward to swing and thus after one swing giving your back to your opponent. A completely counter intuitive 'two keys to do anything' control system, a left click/right click mouse control would have been much easier.
And finally, I HAD to uninstall before this game trashed my hard drive from massive, excessive disk thrashing, even though my machine's a 100 mHz above the required specs there wasn't a moment in the game when Gothic wasn't putting an incredible load on my drive. Sorry guys, this could have been a great game, I just didn't like it.

You dont have to swing forward to attack! You can swing left and right too. When you swing left and right you dont take any steps forward I dont believe... I have never experienced the situation you talk about when a guy gets behind your back? You might need more practice fighting.

You uninstalled? Your decision, and it's your loss ;(

The fighter trainer tells you that its all in the swinging. You did improve your fighting skills did u?

If not then don’t expect to fight well. Once he starts holding the sword in one hand you can use the swings.

Highlight someone and hold down the action button. Draw your sword, Push forward, you step into the enemy and slash him, as your sword comes up again press left for a left slash then right for a right slash. Side slashes knock your opponent back allowing you room to step in again. If you get close pull down to block, when blocking, a side slash will be more effective than a forward slash as the oppoent is on top of you and you dont want to step into him.

As with real sword fights you never stop attacking, you keep your opponent oppressed until he blocks a hit, then you take on the defensive role until he makes a mistake. I can slay almost any character now I have it figured out.

But, it’s your right and decision to uninstall the demo if you’re not prepared to give it some time. This isn’t your usual crap hack ‘n’ slash like Diablo.
