Yes, I have played through the whole game with English G2/German NOTR and the translation mod. The translation mod works flawlessly and does not impair the game in any way.

It's also packaged and presented in a very professional manner. I would highly recommend it!

Another question- Any way to just play the entire game with English Subtitles?

No.

Wrong answer. The Gold Ed. plus mod has full German voices plus English subtitles.

I believe he wants to play the game sans voices.

Not really. A not-so-simple "workaround" is to replace all speeches with a five-second-of-silence wave file.

I know... three to four minutes, that's awfully long.

NO NO NO! Why would I want to play the game sans voices?!?

I was talking about German voices with English subtitles. I thought the mod only affected NOTR. Are you saying if I installed the mod on German gold edition I can play the entire game with English subtitles? I thought they only translated the NOTR text.

Here's a quote taken directly from page 11 of this thread:

I've said it over and over again, but you just don't seem to understand it

I'll say it for the last time, and hope this time you'll get it:

The mod translates ALL the text from german to english, no matter what combo of Gothic 2 and its addon you'll use (be them both german ones, or german gold edition, or english Gothic 2 and german addon). So, again, no matter what combo you'll use, ALL the text will be translated.

The only difference come when it's about the speech. If you'll use both german ones, or the german gold edition, ALL speech will be in german. If you'll use Gothic 2 english version and german version of the addon, only the new addon's speech will be in german, while the original one from Gothic 2 will remain in english.

Is that clear enough now?!!

The team translated the DNdR text, but the original G2 text seems to be copied from the English official.

Yes I can see where it says "all text will be translated from German to English"

But are you sure he's refering to Gothic 2 and NOTR, or just all the text in NOTR?

I think he means all the text in just NOTR, not both games.

Care to elaborate on which part of this quote from the fixed thread is not clear ?!

"Requirements
Depending on which of the two paths you choose youŽll have full English subtitles plus an obvious mix of English and German voice acting.

1.
a) UK or US G2
b) German add-on
c) a German patch for G2
d) German patch 2.6a for TNotR
e) the mod

2.
a1) German G2 Gold Ed. or
a2) German G2 + the add-on and a few patches
b) the mod"

hhmmm.... I didn't realize that they translated the entire game of
Gothic 2 along with NOTR. I thought the mod only affected the expansion pack.

Once again I take my hat off to the team that did this. Great work guys!!

They didn't have to translate the original G2. All they had to do was copy the English subtitles that already existed. The only translation was the text added by NOTR.

Still a great effort, though, as you noted.
