I'm thinking of buying it, is it worth it? is it kind of like NWN? better than Baldur's gate 1?
ANY advice or expeniences with the game would be greatly appreciated

Pretty much same as BG1, but of course with quite a lot of improvements. It's use second edition D&D compare third edition in NWN, and also without 3D engine.

If you liked BG1 you will love BG2 for sure. BG2 isn't a game that you will stop playing after beating it once you can always try playing another class and it changes the whole game. |

If you like lots of side quests, lots of hidden stuff, excellent character interactions and an interesting story the get BG2. It's like BG1 but bigger, better and with a hint of lemon freshness (I may have made one of those up.)
The replay value is great and if you combine it with the Throne of Bhaal expansion you have one of my all time favourite computer games (alongside Planescape Torment and Fallout 1/2).

Yes, BG2 is great. But I'd also very, VERY highly recommend Planescape: Torment, especially if you like your storylines to have a lot of depth. The Baldur's Gate story is good, but I isn't a patch on the story for Torment. |

Completely agree... you have to try P:T, I cannot praise it highly enough. And I know stanthony will agree with me!

Wow-wow-wow  I may be wise  , but I'm faaaaar from being P:T master, Kayla. I did finish it, and I enjoyed it greatly, but when it comes to giving advices I'd rather stick to Forgotten Realms setting. I feel much more comfortable with Amn and Neverwinter and Friendly Arms Inn. I love P:T but I'm afraid you have to look for another "master" Anyway. I was only citing South Park |

Sorry, I just couldn't image an elf doing a Cartman impersonation... I did contemplate that it was a SP reference but thought just in case... and I couldn't do a Cartman quote back since I coiuld only think of the rude ones.  And you are wise... even if you claim to not be a master of P:T.
P.S Do try South Park.... and Planescape:Torment.

It's getting pretty much out of topic here
I like being an elf in RPGs, but D&D 2nd edition (which I deal with mostly) won't let it me play Elf - Specialist Mage - Invoker  So, I'm thinking about changing my personality back to human... BTW do you think a drow could impersonate Cartman? Maybe I should simply color my avatar dark?
One of my PnP game session was completely ruined by players & DM discussing whether Mr. Hat and/or Cartman could have charisma sufficient to talk a dwarf gatekeeper into letting the party in These days people just talk about South Park, I can't help it, too.
@FireAnt - BG2 is better than NWN as, in my mind, NWN is good in multiplayer, but as a single player it has very little to offer. I played it, and even liked it as I like Forgotten Realms, but BG2 is MUCH better for solo play. |

Goddamnit! Then what D&D race could impersonate poor Eric? Imagine that he wants to play BG2, and just cannot decide what character would suit him the best... Roleplay after all is about impersonating ordinary people that play it. Such as Cartman, I guess...
About NWN. Eeeeeh... Single player is NOT absolutely bad there. It is just far more simple comparing to BG series or even IWD2. I liked playing it also because it was my first experience with D&D 3rd edition in CRPGs, but overall... No, Kayla, come on, BG does have a better single player mode... However, NWN is totally cool in MP. Right now I'm trying to create an adventure for our usual PnP team... I'm not so certain about results, but the process itself gives me soooo much fun.
