Much smoother. Thank you very much. Sad that we have to run a hack to enjoy smooth play.

Best damn game hack I've ever used. 5-10 fps gain, no more stutters. And because this one requires the cd in the drive, I have no moral problems recommending it. w00t!

It's my understanding that Bethesda published MW themselves, so there's no excuse for using such invasive copy protection. I can't believe a developer would spend years tuning a game engine for performance and then crap all over it with safedisk. Maybe we should scan MW for spyware too?

If you D/L the crack from Game Copy World you will not have to use the CD at all. This is done by copying the VIDEO off the CD to the Morrowind Folder on your Hard Drive.

Your patch works great

Athlon 1.4
256DDR ram
Gforce3 64meg 241/535
1600x1200 15-20FPS draw diatance full
1024x768 20-30 FPS draw diatance full

Outdoor Draw diatance 2/3
1024x768 30+ FPS
indoor 50-60 FPS

outdoow draw diatance 2/3 with weather effects 14 FPS
You take a big hit with the weather system

SOME developers actually realize how screwed up safedisc is now, and are removing it in their patches.

The latest patch for Serious Sam 2 removes the safedisc wrapper, so that the game only asks for the CD to be loaded when starting, but without that damn wrapper. My FPS has gone up in multiplayer because of it

Croteam knows how to listen. So much for Bethseda, though....

Yeah, I just now thought of that. It is strange that Bethesda would include this. Especially, going as far as including a little paper insert in the box explaining how safedisc will probably screw up the game. Makes little sense.

As far as what safedisc does... it is a copyright wrapper that is placed over the game code. All communications from software to hardware are managed by the safedisc wrapper. And since the safedisc algorithms are so poorly designed, performance usually drops pretty dramatically on high end apps.

So ti means that safedisk is protection against piracy? I thought it is something to protect data form corrupting.

You can grab only the Morrowind.exe from my personal server here:

http://personal.atl.bellsouth.net/lig/j/_/j_daniel/Morrowind/Morrowind.exe

It's not aced or zipped. It is about 1 meg smaller than the original executable that ships with the game. Nothing has been changed to the structure of the file other than the removal of the safedisc wrapper.

Is it virus free? Yeah, absolutely.

Nope, it's pure anti-piracy. And it doesn't work. It kills high-end game performance, and cracks for it are usually out within 24 hrs after a new game release.

I hate game piracy, but there's GOTTA be a better way.
