I found Yikes and Ugh... *sigh* That IS terrible.

I guess it could be summed up with "Yikes! They are! Ugh."...

yikes Pronunciation Key (yks)
interj.
Used to express mild fear or surprise.

[Origin unknown.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ugh Pronunciation Key (g, k)
interj.
Used to express horror, disgust, or repugnance.

Last year one of the most prestigious english dictionary (I'm really sorry but I forget which one... Webster's?) has officially included the word "D'OH!" in their dictionary, with a definition that mentions The Simpsons show for making it popular... Yes, it's sad, but it's true...

*I'm paraphrasing here, mind you. I don't remember the exact definition they gave the word.

I am not sure I agree with that. Dorothy Sayers has her detective extrodinaire, Lord Peter Wimsey using "ain't" on a regular basis. She started writing in the 1910's (I believe). She was Oxford educated in English Lit. If she thought "ain't" to be acceptable in the English Peerage ... it was ... so why shouldn't it be included in a dictionary?

Not to mention, the great beauty of English is it's ever changing nature. Need a new word? No problem ... just invent it (or take it from an other language). If there is a general need for it, other people will use it and it becomes part of the language.

I guess that's true, but English is a bastard language anyways, we just take words from everywhere...

*skips off to invent words to forcefeed down people's throats*

I guess I'll just wait for craptastic to make the dictionary as an antonym for fantastic.

I'll take it. I could use a spare.

I won't need it as a spare - I need it as an UPGRADE.

I have a ye olde picture maker 16mb Riva TNT... still I can run GTA3 nicely so what does it matter. (Buying a new comp for MW).
