Just to dip my foot once more in muddy waters, can anyone think of an RPG, that has come out of England? I can't and I've played most of them.

Well... what does foreigner mean to YOU? No greencard? No American passport? Haven't been in America more than 3 generations? No Native American blood?
A lot of the IT, programming, creative talents within USA come from Asia, like India, Taiwan, China, Japan etc.

Tomb Raider, Black and White and the not yet released Project Ego and BC among others.

Yeah, good ol' Bitmap Brothers! What ever happened to them? Takes me back to the Amiga days.
Of late I think the biggest name out of England would be Tomb Raider... or rather Lara Croft.

BIG DEAL. I can justly say that BOTH European and American RPGs have been good. Just as long as neither of you locale-centered persons dont start thinking that you are better than each, i dont have problem with you. When you Europeans or Americans start saying that each other's developments are better than the other, than YOU suck. The fact is this: it does NOT MATTER where a good game originates. WHO CARES. We should be kind to our neighbor's efforts. Nationality of gamers doesnt matter to me. We all have one cool thing in common: we enjoy RPGs. Why dont we then love each other as friends instead of making enemies by an ignorant "holier-than-thou" attitude. Its true: Some people from America are stupid, and some people from Europe are stupid. SO WHAT. Stupid people are everywhere, and smart people can also be found everywhere. That is life. Its called genetics. But as soon as one person says "we Americans are superior" or "we Europeans are better," that is when idiocy sets in. As for me, I love Americans and I love Europeans and I love Africans. Everybody deserves love, it does not matter what freakin part of the planet you are on. We were all made by the same God(s). |

We Europeans feel as one community, 10 - 15 years ago we would have argued in a much more national way.

Knightmare on the Amiga(based on the unforgetable TV show of the same name). Probably the finest RPG of all time--- well it was good.

I think that is very cool, the new tendency that all Europeans have the common ground of being in Europe together! Now if we could just take that to a global level, we can be one big happy human family! Everybody on Earth is coming together because of the Internet. Its a small world now. |

HiddenX: Right because of the internet and the intercontinental contacts I (for my part) noticed a few years ago that I had a lot more in common with most Euros on teh net than I had in common with most Americans/Africans/Asians/Australians on the net.
It's not that I dislike diversity, no, or didn't have online friends from other continents - quite to the opposite -, but I discovered for myself that there's indeed a common European denominator  . Meaning: there's less need to explain to another Euro why I'm doing or feeling something in a certain way...

I guess it's sort of like the states were back in the 1800s? There were a lot of people who identified more with what individual state they were from and not the country as a whole. There's still a little state pride but I think it's out-weighed far more by a sense of nationalism today. At least, I'll usually say I'm an American before I'll say I'm a Utahn.
