Deigo is Ramires from the 1985(86) Highlander movie. They seem so much alike to me. Well I guess I haven't played Gothic 1 in a while and I only seen up to the beheading of Ramires last night(seen the whole movie twice before).

The hero is called the chosen one of Innos. Makes sense when you call Diego Ramirez from Highlander (-> also known as the chosen one).
I also think he's related to the king. When I saw the opening scene of Gothic 1, I found a resemblance between the king and the hero. I don't think he is the king, because Lee would have recognized the hero.
