Is it important to choose specific race for specific profession?
Have you some tips for such combinations?

--------------

I decided to walk throught again with this party:

- priest
- samurai
- alchemist
- fighter
- gadgeteer
- bard

have you some recommendations which races should I choose for theses professions?

Best races for these professions:
1) Priest - Rawulf, Dwarf (I like the dwarf best)
2) Samurai - Felpurr, Hobbit (Felpurr is my natural choice)
3) Alchemist - Elf, Gnome, Hobbit (No real preference here)
4) Fighter - Dracon, Lizardman, Dwarf (Dracons kick butt as fighters)
5) Gadgeteer - Gnome, Hobbit, Mook (I think the Hobbit would be a good choice here)
6) Bard - Gnome, Hobbit (Again, I'd go with the Hobbit)

Val's spot on, I'd pick exactly the same. Except I'd pick a gnome gadgeteer to honour the Dragonlance series

I chose a Mook Gadgeteer. But she is missing since I talked to the Mook hologram in Arnika. They are always telling me that she will be back soon. Does anyone know, when she actually will be back? I went back several times, but they always told me to wait a little longer. But I really miss her! My other party members are constantly gaining levels and she doesn't. What shall I do?

Galadriel: Find a hut and sleep in Arnika several times. After a while she will come back. The same thing happened to me when I had a Mook Ranger in my party.

I mow have almost the same party like:

bard, fighter, priest, gadgeteer, samurai, valkyrie, psi-man and mage (how would you manage without a mage?)

yet I think Mook is the best gadgeteer.
And I have gnome fighter he just kicks ass.

Priest is good mage and alchemist also.

Well, since you've finished the game already, you probably know what you're missing when deciding not to go with a faerie mage...

Yes, priest is quite good mage but he is definitely very bad fighter mage yet this (fighter mage) is the most valuable PC in any RPG.

Thit is true only to certain point... When he/she reached high level, there are several very good fighting spells (f. e. instant death, death wish...).

Always make your Ranger a Mook.

They make fantastic rangers to begin with but the main reason is...

The giant sword that you can pick up from dead death lords, the first of which you will encounter in the SW wilderness - entrance due east of Crocks hut.

It is an extended sword only that only mooks and rapax can use. Perfect for a ranger! Conveniently, it also boosts your ranger's strength so s/he can carry the heavy thing.

Just a tip!

Thought I'd weigh in on this one. While the hobbit bard is pretty good, the extra stamina from going human seems worth it. Also, make the bard female for an early-game stamina-regenerating item.

My knock on several of the race choices mentioned so far is that many have terrible speed stats. It's personal preference, but I really like to swing first. I've tinkered with 7 or 8 parties so far, usually getting to Arnika or Trynton before starting over, but the crew I went all the way with was:

Liz fighter
Human monk (female for stamina reg)
Hobbit ranger
Rawulf priest
Human bard (female for stamina reg)
Faerie mage

I noticed about 1/2 way thru the game that rangers can use polearms. I gave him a good spear and there was much rejoicing. Wish I had done it earlier to get better skill development.

I hafta say, my Dracon Samurai has some very persuasive arguments. I just keep pumping points into senses; by level 4 he had killed one of the bosses at the monastery (the big bug) in the third round with a critical hit worth over 40 HP. He also speaks psuedo-japanese when he casts his spells, which is fun. The Breastplate in the monastery gave his AC a real jumpstart; by the time we got to Arnika, he was a spellslinging, double wielding, acid breathing Samurai from hell. Felpurr! How can you can compare? I think the Dracons more than made up for lack of agility/senses with the Strength, Dex and VITALITY (60 !). With the extra 5 starting attribute bonus points, it seemed a no-brainer to me. No regrets here. Felpurr Ninja, on the other hand...

By the way, is it my imagination or do the hobbits of W8 seem to be just a little...too good at almost everything? How can a hobbit have the best attribute bonus points for samurai?? Puh-leeze. Have you noticed that Hobbits have (or share) the highest number of bonus points for 5 of the 11 professions? I don't know, I love the little guys, but since when is a furry-footed, hole-dwelling butterball make the ideal assassin? ...whatever. JRR must be writhing in his grave...
