Titus, I'm going to take a guess and assume you aren't black.

So you probably thought it was "safe" to say this figuring no black people hung out here. Well you're wrong -- and while I'm usually pretty good-natured about poking fun at stereotypes and stuff... you came off as mean-spirited here. You can take your N-word nonsense somewhere else.

I know the whole "who can call who a nigger" thing is a huge double-standard - but you should have presented your argument in a more tactful manner -- the way you said it just felt wrong.

Now, onto other things:

I really listen to whatever goes around. By that I mean stuff that gets played on TV/radio. I stopped buying CD’s because I rarely find more than 3-4 good songs on them. I think the last one I bought was a Propellerheads cd in ’98.

I like almost every genre there is but to mention a genre which haven’t be touched in the thread yet, I’ll go for Acid Jazz or regular jazz for that matter. I don’t really know much about it but that kind of music just makes me feel good.

If you'd like to know more about Jazz (*real* Jazz that is), I suggest you check out the "Jazz for the Beginner" list I made at Amazon.com. Its a great place to get started in what can be an overwhelming genre.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/listmania/list-browse/-/2QS251V4ZAMM3/ref=cm_aya_av.lm_more/103-6275160-4541458

Guess there are not many other fans of Jazz here. Stuff like Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Pat Methney, etc... I'd say 70% of the recordings are own are Jazz of some type.

Take note that I did *NOT* mention "smooth Jazz" artists like Kenny G., Dave Koz, or Chirs Botti. Their music is some of the most boring stuff you can find and has almost NOTHING to do with what real jazz sounds like.

I also like Classical music like Ravel, Stravinsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Chopin, and Debussy (to name a few).

Add to that Bjork, Depeche Mode, some early NIN, Cranberries ..to kind of round things out.

The things I hate: THE MINDLESS music of today: r&b of today and rap. Or with other words, the women humiliating music and the acting like they are so great. then niggers that call them selves niggers but can't be called niggers by white men. Just hilarious

i totally disagree, i think metal is the most mindless music ever, just screaming and squeesing guitarrs. I might be wrong, cause i dont listen to it much, but when i heard rammstein and korn, then i didnt see any real point in their music and i understand both languages, german and english.

Hello! Arguing over what music is best is like arguing which ice cream flavor is best. It's a matter of taste, and not everyone is going to like the same flavor. There is abstract "noise" music like Merzbow, which is just banging sounds and machinery buzzing. Not even a beat. Some people love it apparently tho.

The "n-word" controversy befuddles me too as well. For supposedly people who are trying to end all racism and are just so horribly wounded by the mere sound of the word, they cant seem to utter it often enough. Lovingly, happily, as a term of endearment!

I guess Im just a stupid honkey='.'=

elkston sorry didn't mean to sound that harsh, It is just that I can get really angry of that rap and r&b stuff where they act like that, I don't got any thing against people who are different in skin colour. I love it to be different and anyone else who is different in any way. but I hope you did got the wright point of what I said and not that I am a racist or some.

kriksa you said it is mindless? than can you call music of metallica mindless? I bet even you like there classicers as "nothing else matters" or mama said?
or even new comers like Linkin park? you can't call there music mindless; it is even so great that everyone especially a lot of teenagers can find there self back in to the songs of them. and also Metal isn't about being obvious but more of an extreme expression of emotions and that is what makes it so great.
especially if you think that rap and r&b is a lot of posing

well raps original point is fighting against racism and police violence, but nowadays its point is geting more and more similar to pop music - making a good chorus that everyone likes and earn a lot of money by that, but rap should really be more concentrated on the words and rhymes and it should be gang related only if the rapper is gang related. Thats why i listen to 80s and 90s rap, like Tupac, NWA, Mc Eight...

and i dont like any metallica songs.

You obviously know nothing about metal, and haven't taken the time to try to appreciate it. As you said, you have only listened to it a couple of times, so you are in no place to criticize it.
In other news I got the new Authority Zero album "Andiamo." It is pretty damn good. Listen to it even if you don't like punk, because there's some really good ska on it.

i said i dont listen to it much, not that ive listened to it a couple of times, about 90% of my classmates listens to slipknot and korn and ramstein and stuff like that, so even if i dont like it i still have to listen to it some times.
The singers should really work on their pronounceiation(not sure if spelled correctly), i cant understand almost a single word.

The lyrics don't always matter. Sometimes it's just the sound.

You're right. You've just scratched the surface my friend.
If you like I could suggest you some good bands from different genres, from melodic death metal to goth...

Well for starters you could begin with not so brutal-kind of music. Maybe you ought to check out Blind Guardian ( best power metal band imho ).
Then I also love Katatonia ( goth-metal ? dunno ). Check out Last fair deal gone down ( I also suggest Viva emptiness ) - great stuff.
Then a little goth-like music, try Paradise Lost - Symbol of Life ( love it )
If you decide to listen to some melodic death metal your first choice should be Dark Tranquillity. A variety of albums to choose from. I suggest the latest - Damage Done. If u like that one also don't miss out Haven. Your second choice with melodic death is definetly Amon Amarth

If you get fed up with metal for a while then listen to some legendary rock bands such as : Dire Straits ( probably heard of them ), Deep Purple
and some ( almost entirely ) instrumental hard rock ----> Joe Satriani

The last thing I suggest is if you're not in the mood for rock/metal music then some pop could be a good choice. I don't suggest some crappy R&B but nice music like Dido, Frou Frou ( both are quite similar )

Give it a shot

I am down with Merzbow. It's definately a niche genre though. You should hear his work with Mike Patton in Maldoror.
