Gothic 2 Wish List

What would you like to see in Gothic 2? Let's hope our dreams will become true!

Things are neither completely bright nor dark.

Do you go right? Or do you go left? A simple decision, yes? No ambiguities. Only the dream of the path not taken! And so one might stand in this place and contemplate for a long while. What will I miss if I go left? What will I lose if I go right? And in my indecision, have I chosen a worse fate?

First, I immensely enjoyed Gothic I and finished it without cheats, maybe a glance or two when I was stuck, at a walkthru. 8 out of 10 games I don't finish, because after the first "falling in love with the new" I loose interest, mostly the game becomes repetitive (D. Siege!)

My wishes for all future RPG's including Gothic II (part of my list I posted in the Hydra mod forum)

Ok I add my attitude as the gamer. I like to play in such a fashion that I am emerged in the game world. It becomes real, a real virtual world that makes me forget the room I am in:)
WHat does convince me?
1a) good enough graphics in the environment. The major point in Gothic I (G I)that made me NOT to believe in the true reality of the Gothic world, so I was just playing a (real) nice game. The opposite: Ghost Recon. It had graphics that made me forget I was just playin a game. The trees were even swaying.. Shadows needed, but simple shadows will do
1b Enough polys for the characters, but above all 32 bit textures and smooth moving.
2) Good spot FX. Believable sounds etc..
3a) Now the gameplay I am IN the world looking around me like in my normal world. When I meet some one I need believable responses. People or animals, MAY react or not, MAY be hostile or friendly.
3b) Friendly: A conversation may follow if I choose to..
3c) Hostile: They may run or fight. Lets choose fighting: Fighting need the movement of mass. That takes more time the heavier my weapon is, the heavier my opponent is. The introduction of fatigue already after a couple of blows (with a heavier weapon, also for the opponent) will make it much more realistic for me. So I can still give my mouse an angry command, but my "arm" just moves clumsy and I see the red or purple of my fatigue monitor. SO in panic I look at my enemy and I see him gasping for air !! S/he is tired too. For the first time I can really admire his looks, because in the fight I don't have time. The more trained and exp I am the less....
3d) Animals/monsters try to flee when they start loosing.
4) Friendly: beautifull as well as ugly ladies/witches try to flirt..
Sometimes especially the beautiful ones try to seduce and if I accept I can end up in "heaven" or betrayed and end up as a slave (end of story or the beginning of my escape)
5) two or more npc's or monster cooperate in fighting (flanking)
6a)Introduce believable patterns. The world as a whole respect day nightime cycles as well as bad/good weather cycles.
6b)Introduce fog so you can loose your way
6c) The "fog" /drab underwater use it by saving drowning childeren or a seductive beauty.
7) Conflicting demands that boggles my conscious. For instance create a context that a majority of players will develop a bond with someone or a group that is reallly nice to you or "saves" your life more than once, keeps your house or bed occupied or whatever, a really nice pet. Then comes the order (from a guild) or to close a real good deal, to betray or even kill that person.
8) The community has a memory and a conscience, monitoring your deeds
9) You can get drunk (negatively effects your coordination and fighting capabili) but in a cafe getting drunk together, the other shares valuable info
10) inbetween scripted scenes to glue the story together
11) real physics, with the appropriate force you can break/move or caryy things.
12) I like the bounty hunters in Morrowind. So I never will feel real save being a real bad guy. This sneaky assasin may even follow me because I hear him following me with his hollow sounding footsteps in the alley behind me. But when I stop and look around I see only shadows
Even when I am "good" a discontended NPC may threaten me to send a hunter as revenge after me..
13. Some reflective events like in Torment. A part of the story reflects back to my past, that I forgot
14 In G I, I was mostly alone. I would like to have a companion
15) Keep the beautiful girls in the propriate context naked. Don't bow your head for the twisted American cultural attitude towards sex.
16) Introduce little children with beautifull faces, but pickpocket (?) you
17) Everybody has a price. So make (all) the important NPC's bribable, not only with money!! Especially not money. Maybe I have to murder their mother ;)
18) Some weird merchant is willing to give a powerfull rare artifact in exchange of one my kidney! Or my left hand. If I say yes i follow him to a more and more nasty looking back alley, finally meeting a dirty looking surgeon with a smirk on his face, dying to operate on me!!
19)Twisted surprises: My beautifull potential lover turned out to be a man (or vice versa) YUK. My trusted companion an underworld spy, my unimportant servant, a powerful mage etc etc.
20) Learn from Morrowind and know that graphics alone can sell a game, not meaning that MW is only graphics, far from it. Make Gothic2 more beatifull to look at than MW and you have a winner. But you already will have a winner...

A pony eh

I suggested that once, but I got shot down because someone said there were no horses in Gothic.
