You mean what camp people joined the first time or what?
Most people played this game joining every camp and trying
everyrthing...[ i think ]

I've played the game through 3 times.

First time I joined the Sect
Second time I joined the Sect, then the mages
Third I joined the Sect then New Camp

That's the only logical camp to join in relation to how the game unfolds, let me tell you why I see it that way.

Your character wants out, as is evident from your conversation with Diego in the Old Camp shortly after you enter the colony. Diego tells you that the Old Camp people aren't looking for a way out, and that you need to just adapt to your surroundings, or join one of the other camps and help in their crazy escape plans. From that moment on I new my character wouldn't be happy in the Old Camp, because I would be a total outcast in terms of short/long term goals. My roleplaying descision only left me with two camps left.

The New Camp requires knowledge of an event just slightly in the future. When you are told to investigate the Sect Camp you are sent to the Old Mine. Here you are a rouge, walking through a mine run by the Old Camp. From a roleplaying standpoint that would be the same as walking up to Gomez and smacking him in the face--a death wish. No rouge/mercenary in the colony would walk into that mine and snoop around.

Then you have the Brotherhood of the Sleeper. Considered "loonies" by the rest of the colony, yet accepted in both of the other two camps. They have no real enemies because they are just the "neighborhood" drug dealers, and that makes them everybodies friend. They have templars already in the mine, so it's obvious there are no problems between them and the Old Camp, and they have patrons in every camp, spreading the word about swamp weed to everyone.

I love this game, but I do wish they had done just a slightly better job on the stories of the camps.

I guess most people join the Old Camp the first time they played the game. For me, I favor joining the New Camp (I like the mercs, and Lee is my favorite NPC).

I joined Old Camp because of Diego. He saved me and I felt that I owed him.

At first, I joined the old camp because I thought it was soooooo mighty and powerful
When I was playing for the second time, I chose the swamp camp (because I knew who is REALLY powerful)
Then, I joined the new camp because I wanted to be a rogue.
Lastly, I joined the orc Camp (with cheats)

The best way is to join the old camp, because there you can learn all you skills and later in the game you can join New or Sect .
Because Old camp says you are a traitor because you helpt the watermages and some times the Loonies(Sect campers)

Can you join the sect camp after joining the old camp. I never knew that. I thought you could only join the new camp after old camp.

Are you certain of this? If it is possible, who would you need to talk to?
Cor Kalom has left the camp, and Y'Berion is unconscious. I've tested this by talking to Cor Angar and some of the Baals, but they don't give me any options to join.

Don't you have to be a guard, templar or mercenary by the time you reach the forth chapter.

Old Camp

I joined the old camp. It was the only camp I could join. I gave Lares 400 ore and talked to Mordrag for him, but he still wouldn't let me join. I was short of one Baal to vouch for me because I didn't know you could fight camp members without getting your ass wiped by everyone around you. Turns out for that one mission I could whack the lazy novice without anyone else caring.

I actually wanted to join the new camp. I thought Mordrag was pretty cool shooting the critters on the way to the new camp. Plus everyone in the old camp were stuck up extortionists.

The Sect camp was worse. The Baals refuse even to talk to you!
