Question concerning NotR; language skill

Is the only point of this skill to read the tablets and increase skills, or is there another use for it?

aldee_ is almost right. yes is it used to read the stone tablets to boost your various attributes. But there is another use for the skill.......you can read some more "writings" that give you exp. They look like stone guardians sitting down holding open a book. Some give exp. and others don't, but the books give clues and history about the addon world. these "altars" may or may not light up when you face them, but you can still read the book they hold.....well at least on some of them.

Dam, I am confused reading that and i understand what i wanted to say. Example: beat the fire demons in the building next to the orc camp in the canyon near the pirate camp.......You will find some of these altars there and can read them for exp.
