@Remus, I think it just comes down to size. Jowood is a (relatively) small publisher based in Europe. In Australia they use a small distie called Red-Ant who doesn't handle any major games other than Jowood's. Obviously Jowood/Res-Ant need to negotiate price, quantity, marketing co-op funds and so on.

The big guys like EA, Sierra, Blizzard and so on have there own offices here (and everywhere else pretty much), so nothing needs to be negotiated with 3rd parties. It would make a simultaneous international release much easier

at: http://www.tothegame.com/game.asp?ID=983
they say: EU RELEASE: 21-Feb-2003 | US RELEASE: 31-Jan-2003 |

where can you find information to rely on in this mixed up world?

Release dates from the game own publisher (Jowood) is more reliable than any others...However in publisher site the given date (for the English version) was first quarter of 2003 (first three months of 2003) - which is, quite vague. But, that's better than nothing. Maybe the publisher's negotiation with local distributors and preparations to launch English/international still ongoing... Heck, we don't even sure the German version will definitely release at Nov/29, since it's not gone gold yet!!!

we germans always have to wait for english games, in very rarely cases the games were released at the same time.

The only good thing is: nearly every german speaks a comprehensible english so we may download foreign versions first and testing them ^^

No gloating, i know how it is to wait with such an anticipation for anything, i will think of you while installing the game on the 29th.

Well that's not enough!

And besides that, you Germans may have to wait for English releases, but thats it. We in scandinavia have to wait for both English and German releases.

I find it interesting that a release in Australia is mentioned at all. Gothic1 wasn't released here, though I've been told some places brought in small special orders. I had to get it from Canada. Divinity hasn't been released here, and neither will Arx according to my local EB. I've had to order all these from Canada. The delay doesn't worry me, since I'm still playing Divinity and Arx won't be here for a few weeks (snail mail). The delay actually suits me. I suspect, that cleaning up bugs and marketing decisions are the reason. After the Christmas rush, people will be wanting to buy a fresh game in Q1 and there usually isn't much about after the pre-Christmas release rush. Should help sales. I'll be getting it, but I'll believe an Australian release when I see it!!

Same here.
I guess we will find out though. *sigh*
Of all the versions in the world, they pick North American to delay.

Hi, Corwin. Arx will definitely be released here, around the 17th. It's been delayed several times, but so have the US versions Divinity is available as an import from a few local shops, but like you I buy a number of titles internationally. You're ordering from that Canadian DVD place with free shipping?

Gothic's original publisher didn't have an Aus distie, but they went under and Jowwod has it now, so it should be released here eventually.

Unfair, so unfair, but then again, at least it's coming (someday). So hurry up, mod makers, there should be few mods for Gothic to play, while waiting for Gothic 2
